Ms. Fanni Cong is an HR professional with extensive experience in the minyiny sector; she worked for an HR enterprise in Xian prior to coming to Shanghai; she joined Onpress International recently with the objective of developing the minyiny sector of the recruitment and HR services business.

During my 10 years¡¯ career in the HR field, I¡¯ve been working with minying enterprises for the first 5 years, then with an European enterprise for 3 years. I believe that it¡¯s beneficial to have both type of experiences. In my opinion, foreign enterprises possess a mature management structure and provide its employees with a good learning environment, whilst the minying enterprises usually have an open management system, and provide its employees with a large platform on which they can perform well.

Allow me to share with you some of these experiences.

Right before the National Day of 1995, I joined the San Bo Xian Group by chance, as a director in the President¡¯s Office. There is an old saying in China: ¡°a new official applies strict measures¡±; I did experience the true meaning of this traditional proverb as a new official then.

The first measure I took was the issuance of the October holiday notice. I myself wrote the notice on a little blackboard, which said ¡°one-day holiday on October 1¡± and commenced work from October 2 as usual.

The second measure was to set up a mast in front of the gate of the office building. I myself had confirmed that the standard height of the mast was 19.48 meters, and that it should take exactly 3 minutes to finish the whole procedure of raising the flag on this mast.

The third measure I took was to resolve the issue of a regular bus service for employees. I myself had negotiated with the transportation department, and appointed two bus companies for this purpose; the employees should wait for the bus at the appointed site and time for this service.

The resulting comments from the Group for these 3 measures were:

The official ¡°Holiday Notice¡± had rendered the employees of Group the first taste of a ¡°regularity enterprise¡±. Because during the past 8 years, there had never been an official notice about holidays, and the employees had never really spent a holiday with their family; because there was no official notice about holidays and the employees tended to work during the ¡°holiday¡±.

Setting up a mast for the national flag also let all the staff have a taste of pride of being a part of the  ¡°Chinese enterprise¡±.  The national flag is a symbol of China; it was seen flying over the industrial district of San Bo Xian group. Any visitors to the company could the see this red flag.  That was the reason why employees of this Group had felt the pride in seeing this national flat.

The company¡¯s regular bus service had let the employees experienced a feeling of ¡°Equality¡±. The senior Management had no other perceived privilege in terms of transportation, as they had to wait for the same bus at the same place and the same time with the other employees.

Can you imagine that these 3 measures I first took at that time were the first ¡°enterprise behavior¡± for a minying company?  The experience in the minying enterprise has therefore equipped me with great confidence. I believe that every one can create a brilliant career path as long as one can start work from a detailed job description, and conduct oneself professionally and consistently.
