| In
the past two decades, foreign businesses have enjoyed ever-increasing
growth in Shanghai, especially the Japanese companies. Our office is located
in the Shanghai International Trade Center, which was built by a Japanese
general construction company. Eighty percent of the companies located
in this building are affiliates of Japanese companies; you'll find that
Japanese is the predominant language of conversation in the elevators.
Therefore the birth of the Japanese Division of Onpress International
is a natural progression of these events.
Onpress has long established its success in the field of recruitment in all industries such as pharmaceutical, chemical, manufacturing, electronics, etc. All these industries require ever-growing new science and technology, thus in turn a need for talents and management skills which are the keys to an organization's development. Japanese companies are no exceptions to this trend. Until the end of 2004, Japanese companies had invested over US$60 billion in China, and over 80% of this investment was directly invested into Shanghai and the surrounding areas. Approximately, 5,000 Japanese companies have operations in Shanghai. But, we have to take note that due to its culture and customs, a Japanese company's idea of an ideal employee is someone who will obey orders without question, who is willing to work until very late frequently, and who gets results as a team member yet lets their boss take the credit, thus they tend to pay greater attention to the issues of "loyalty" and "longevity" of a person in stead of this person's ability to perform and deliver results. This means that as little change at the management level as possible and the supervisors (one level lower than the management level) is forced to face the fact that the chance for their promotion is rare. This lack of upward mobility will actually lead to frequent career moves for the people at the supervisor level. As a recruiter, this is good for business! As a result, Onpress has taken a bold step to invest our attention, time and efforts to the management and supervisor levels of these companies in order to help our client secure the necessary human talents and skill sets for further business development. Based on the an understanding of Japanese culture and customs we provide similar services with a series of special offers and measures that have been set down for Japanese companies; this means that quality services are provided at lower rates for all Japanese companies in China. Initial reactions are that this is a piece of very good-news for Japanese companies who are troubled by their recruiting needs, and then they appreciate our strong support. Based on this argument,
other divisions, by nationality idiosyncrasies, are being established
within the operations of Onpress International. |
