VOICE FROM THE HEART OF A PROFESSIONAL

By Fannie Cong

In the summer of 2004, I received a phone call from Mr.Dou Ji, " Hello, Ms.Cong this is Dou Ji from the Shanghai Television First Finance Channel. Our show needs an expert in the area of recruiting, are you interested in joining us? ". "Oh, thank you. What is the program about?" I asked with some excitement. " The topic is about recruitment. You are a person with plenty of experience in the area, I am sure that it will be no problem for you. " Inspired by Mr.Dou's words, I accepted the invitation with pleasure.

After confirmation of this invitation by fax from the TV Station, I was sure that I could handle the issues on recruitment; for instance, there would be some common topics such as;
กค Some graduates would be short of experience
กค The sense of fair play during a profession career
กค Friendly competition between colleagues
กค Relationships, e.g., whether it is easier to get a job offer if you know "somebody"

The first time for video-recording was in a meeting room. It was hot that day, and the air-conditioner was running at full speed; the cameraman adjusted the lighting: two big lamps in the front; I sat down and faced the test. But Mr.Dou was not so lucky, as he had to change his clothes for the cameraman! After everything was ready, they began recording for my program. A very pretty correspondent, Ms. Xiao Lei, sat in the opposite of me, and we communicated through our eyes. The camera was put above Ms.Xiao Lei's head and the program began to record at 45 degrees downward.

In front of the TV, I began my speech with calmness as well as nervousness; I then went on to speak about the issues mentioned above. At the end, I asked Ms.Xiao Lei about my speech: "That is fine!" Ms.Xiao Lei encouraged me in a loud voice.

So, I finished my first recording on TV on the topic of recruitment successfully!

And, throughout the recording, mishaps and accidents happened and were immediately rectified! Mr. Dou was very meticulous throughout this process, and maintained his posture and calmness with the audience!

It was a relief that my first TV recording was over! One month later, I received a telephone call from Mr.Dou Ji to tell me that the program would be on air the next night.

At 7:30 p.m. on this Sunday evening, I turned on the TV with the right channel, but I missed the program!

I had to ask Mr.Dou the next day for the reactions to this program; Mr. Dou told me that this program was in the " The Voice From The Heart Of A Professional " in the section of "A Successful Career Path". This show will be on the TV screen every Sunday evening.

Finally I knew that I would appear on the TV screen!
