We have been doing recruitment for more than 10 years. We therefore have the chance to meet all kinds of candidates, from various industries, different positions and different levels of responsibilities. Each time, we meet them, talk to them, and then make a judgment on them and pass the necessary information to our clients. Of course, the clients' requirements are different; for different cases, the candidates would be required of a different set of competencies. But, we have noticed that our clients would tend to select from a set of common qualities. I would like to list below these qualities: , Integrity is the foremost and the most common quality. This is a very important issue, if any candidate is perceived to have a problem in any shape or form in that, we will not recommend this candidate. , The next important issues are intelligence, maturity and the energy level. It is obvious with intelligence; maturity has something to do with people skills and how does this candidate use his/her mind; and energy is something that a candidate must have in order to survive in an emerging market such as China. , As most of our clients are multinationals, so English skills in both the written and verbal forms are very important. Any suitable candidates must have good language skills. We think English is a communication tool; one can use it to relate better with the Head Office. , Presentation and communication skills are next; perhaps, you are the best performer in your function, but if you cannot express it to others, how can we know you are the best? How can our clients know? , Political skills is another quality some of our clients want; this requirement is very situational and depends on the job that the client is offering. Anyway, we are very
experienced in the field of executive search and in seizing up the candidates.
The issues we mentioned above are from our experiences; if you have any
good ideas, please let us know, we certainly would appreciate hearing
from you. |
