ALFRED SHUM
Director / Consultant

Born in Hong Kong, Alfred received his tertiary education in Sydney, Australia with a Bachelor of Science degree and two Master's degrees in Biochemistry and Business Administration.

After 10 years in medical research, he moved into the technical support, sales, marketing and divisional management fields in the healthcare business with 3M (Australia) and Johnson & Johnson


Alfred later transferred to Johnson & Johnson Taiwan as Marketing Director, and then went on to be Regional Director of the Asia headquarters in Hong Kong for the medical product company, American Cyanamid/Lederle's. He later became the General Manager for Hong Kong/China for Schering-Plough Corp., a major pharmaceutical company based in New Jersey, USA.

Having extensive experience in so many fields, Alfred decided to establish Onpress Ltd. to provide consulting services to multinational, regional and local companies in market entry, market research and evaluation, product registration and distribution, executive search, and projects related to infrastructure set-up, investment and joint venture proposals in the pharmaceutical/healthcare industries in China and other Asian markets.

Alfred also writes for international publications, as well as lectures to international audiences regularly on subjects relating to the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry , HR issues, and other topical business issues in China.
